Taunton Rowing Club name new boat

On Saturday 2nd September, Taunton Rowing Club, sponsored by Lentells, were delighted to hold a small boat naming ceremony. The boat is an adaptive double scull that can be used by both physically impaired and able bodied rowers, rowing as a team. Generous donations for local charities The Wilton Trust and Wooden Spoon made the purchase of the boat possible and the ceremony was attended by Helen Foster and Senga Westwater. The boat was named Richard Jeans to recognise the huge contribution made by Richard in establishing the club. Richard sadly passed away in 2015, unable to see the growth and success of the rowing club due in no small way to his generous support. Richard's family attended the boat naming and are still actively involved in the club.

Club Captain Steve swan said “We are very grateful for the donations that have enabled the addition of this boat to our fleet and delighted we could name it Richard Jeans. Taunton Rowing Club is keen to welcome rowers of all abilities and are grateful we can offer facilities to those with physical impairments”. www.tauntonrowingclub.com
