Fee protection insurance

Every individual and business is at risk of being investigated by HM Revenue and Customs. Research suggests that up to one in ten small or medium sized business is likely to be subject to a tax investigation. The Revenue is becoming more aggressive about how they deal with investigations - they do not have to give a reason for investigating and even select some cases completely at random. The cost of dealing with a revenue investigation is often high and can easily be more than the cost of preparing the accounts and tax returns that are under investigation.

The best person to defend you in an investigation is your accountant but the cost of doing so can be expensive. At Lentells, we recognise the importance of protecting your business against the potential cost of dealing with an investigation. We normally recommend to our clients a fee protection scheme provided by PFP Limited. The scheme offers affordable insurance to cover your accountancy fees in the event of an investigation. For more information regarding this scheme please contact your nearest Lentells office. You can click on the PDF files at the bottom of this page to download an application form and policy details.

Lentells is not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. However, we are included on the register maintained by the Financial Conduct Authority so that we can carry on insurance mediation activity, which is broadly advising on, selling and administration of insurance contracts. This part of our business, including arrangements for complaints or redress if something goes wrong, is regulated by The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. The register can be accessed via the Financial Conduct Authority website at  https://register.fca.org.uk/
