At Lentells, we love welcoming new apprentices into the team. You don’t need years of experience or a perfect CV — we’re much more interested in who you are, your attitude, and your excitement for starting a career in accountancy. Hear from our HR Manager, Richard, about what he looks for in an apprentice, and how to stand out with your applications.
So, what do we look for?
- Genuine interest in numbers and problem solving
- You don’t need to be a maths genius, but enjoying working things out and having a bit of curiosity definitely helps.
- A positive, “give it a go” attitude
- We really notice candidates who get stuck in, ask questions, and show enthusiasm for learning something new.
- Friendly, open communication
- You’ll be working with all sorts of people — managers, clients, and other apprentices — so being approachable and easy to talk to goes a long way.
- Care and attention to detail
- Accountancy involves producing accurate work, so taking pride in what you do is important.
- Reliability and commitment
- We’ll support you every step of the way, but we value apprentices who turn up ready to learn and put in the effort.
How Apprenticeships Work at Lentells
Our apprenticeship programme is designed to help you grow steadily and confidently into the world of accounting — not rush you or throw you in at the deep end.
Here’s what you can expect:
- You’re part of the team from day one
- You’ll get hands on experience in bookkeeping, VAT, accounts preparation, and other real-life work that builds your skills from the ground up.
- You get proper study support
- You’ll work towards recognised qualifications (starting with AAT Level 3), with dedicated study time and guidance from both Lentells and our training partners. We make sure you’re never left to figure things out alone.
- Regular check ins to help you progress
- Progress reviews help you see how far you've come, where to improve, and the goals ahead. You’ll always know how you’re doing.
- A clear path to grow your career
- Many apprentices stay with Lentells and go on to complete AAT Level 4, ACCA, and beyond. We’re proud to support long term growth — your future really matters to us.
- A genuinely welcoming environment
- Our apprentices often say how supported and encouraged they feel. You’re not just an extra pair of hands — you’re part of the journey.
